Has anyone traveled shortly after surgery? My daughter has her college orientation 3 days ofter my surgery and I would like to go with her. It is a 5 hour card ride to get to her school. I didn't know if anyone else had traveled after surgery and if so how it went for them. I will ask my doctor if I can, but I wanted to see if any of you had any suggestions if I should go with her or not. - Thanks!

I was banded 5 days ago and I am traveling today, just 2.5 hours though, I think you should be ok, just try to stop every hour or so to move around, also take it easy the days prior to your travel, and by all means take your pain meds with you. Good Luck

Just based on my own experience, I would not have wanted to travel on Day 3. Still too sore, gas pains were still pretty bad then too.

I flew home from Colorado to Arizona 2 days after my surgery. I was fine. But I have a high pain tolerance. I also didn't take any pain meds after surgery and was cooking and grocery shopping the day after.

It isn't just the car ride, it is the entire orientation, too. I imagine there will be quite a bit of walking invoilved? I would not have been able to handle it, bit I am a big wimp. I also caught a cold around the time I was at the hospital. Day 3 is when the sore throat set in and symptoms started really brewing. The days following were not fun for me.

There are many bandsters who have their surgery on a Thursday or Friday and return to work on Monday. So it is really hard to say how YOU will react.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
