Does Anyone Eat Bananas?

Recommended Posts

I was told that bananas were a no, but I love bananas and I've eaten one the last two mornings. Does anyone else eat them?

I've seen where some people have problems with bananas, and they are high in carbs, but I eat them sometimes. I love bananas and if I crave one, I eat one. I have never had any issues with getting stuck with them, and I feel full after a half of one. Good luck to you!

I usually do not eat them straight up as I am not a huge fan. What I do is put one in my vanilla shake to make smoothy. 1 cup of body fortress whey powder, 80z simply smart milk, 1 banana and a bit of ice and blend. 36 grams of Protein in that shake :-)

Bananas are a great source of potassium and helps keep the charlie horses away...

edit: 8oz not 80 ;-)

My fill nurse says to stay away from them once you have good restriction as they are Gummy and can possibly cause an obstruction. I like them and until I got good restriction, had no problems. Once I hit the green zone though, I noticed its harder to get them to go down so I limit them.

I eat a half maybe once a week in a smoothie.

I put it in the freezer and blenderize it with a orange yogurt/ 1oz sf pineapple syrup/.5 oz sf cocnut syrup/ 3 oz almond milk/ 1 scoop vanilla protein/ a little ice

Yummy

In a smoothie.... Yes.

Plain,,,,no. Sits in my pouch too long and give me heartburn. Although that might change after hiatal hernia surgery.

I ate them the first year, then they started getting stuck..so they are on my bye-bye list.

At Pink Dahlia - I was told they would get stuck. I haven't eaten them until yesterday and today. I missed them, and since I really don't have any restriction yet, I thought why not. I had no problem, but I guess I shouldn't chance it.

I put 1/2 a banana in my smoothie. I love bananas but feel bad about the carbs/sugar. I have eaten (tried) one raw but it quickly becomes painful. So just the smoothie. I find they halp with the whey flavor.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
