I have been walking 2 miles eachday/ 6 days a week since I had my surgery. I'm now able to walk that in 30 minutes! I want to add a zumba class or a workout dvd to add some extra.

I'm still going to the gym. I meet with a trainer and he gave me a work out to do. I do 30 minutes of cardio and than I do 30 minutes of strenght training. After surgery I started on the treadmll since I'm use to walking. Now I've moved on to the ellipitcal, When I can do this a a certain pace and not feel winded I'm moving to a differnt machine I can't think of what it is called but it is like the elliptical. My strenght training I was only doing 15 to 20 lbs because of the limit the Dr. put on me. But I'm now doing 25-30lbs. So I'm pushing my self harder now that restriction is removed from me. And I can tell also, I walk out of the gym now looking like I just got out of the shower and forgot to dry off.

So have you changed any thing in your work out?

2 miles in 30 minutes?? you sure you are walking! Now I feel slow cuz it takes me 20 minutes to do one mile...

My port area is still sore, but not sore enough to stop me. I'm still not lifting much weight because of it, but I am becoming a walkalholic. Also, my skin on my belly feels like it has rug burn, but when I touch it, it doesn't increase the sensation. I'm guessing its the nerves sending weird signals to my brain from the trauma of the surgery. It doesn't hurt, just there constantly and feels funny.

My still is sore occasionally, now since i've had my fill it's been really sore but it's starting to ease up a little. Does anyone have an issue when bending over, can you feel it. Not really pain but just something. It bothers me. I dont know I want to get to the point where I never feel it.

MandaElaine, You are making me laugh! I can feel mine also. I just hope mine never gets to the point that it sticks out. I went to a meeting right after surgery and there was a lady there that hers stuck out. She had a big knot in the middle of her stomach. That I thought was gross. Feeling it is fine but I don't want to see it

Ewwww, no way! I can feel mine now, I sure dont want it poking out looking like something of the movie Alien. Of course being 100 lbs lighter by that point I guess I wont mind too bad.

I am still struggling with consistent exercise. I'm not as motivated to stick to a routine as I was before the band. Crazy, I know. I need to be accountable and commit to going to a class, and schedule the time. When I go out of town this weekend I'm determined to hit the hotel gym at least once.

Ok Natalie I going to hold you to working out at least once over the weekend!

Natalie, success hinges on our exercise program. The band controls the amount we can eat, and we can choose what foods we eat, but the key to success is burning them calories (and getting enough Protein so we burn fat and not muscle)!

Besides, exercise gives you more energy and less stress! no matter how much it wears you out! if you need a class to be accountable, find one. If you need us to yell, errr support you.. we are here. Even though I haven't posted when I walk (which is my exercise at this point), I think of you ladies every time I walk, especially when I am not sure I want to. I can almost hear you all cheering me on or yelling, errr encouraging me to get off my butt. Hear us cheering you Natalie!!!

still hoping for a treadmill to find its way home to me... esp before the bad weather hits. but I have been having fun watching the sunrise as I walk the mile track around the lake. such a peaceful way to start my day. I never dreamed I would enjoy walking at 430 in the morning, before work!

My goal is eventually to be able to jog, even if its not far, but to jog for more than five feet, which is probably all I could do now! and to jog, without my flabby stomach flapping against my body making those disgusting noises. I've never been able to run my entire life, because I've always been heavy. I may never run a marathon, but I sure would like to jog the length of the street in front of our house.

Anyone have any specific exercise/activity goals for as they lose weight???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
