I was banded in 5.22.12, today I had a serving of cream of wheat about 9am and still full at this very moment. Of course I have not had a full as of yet, but intend to get the fill as soon as I am allowed. I would get the first one and decide on any future fills after that! I kinda think alot has to do with which band they use, there are two, one is smaller than the other, my surgeon told me he used the smaller of the two on me.

i was banded on the 22.03. i had some restriction even though there was no fill at the time of surgery. ive now had 3ccs inserted, i do have a bit more restriction now than before. thats good you arent going through hell because of appetite. keep up the instructions on fluids that you have been given though. thats very important.

So is it the restriction that helps you not feel hungry? I'm confused on that one. I just had surgery 2 weeks ago and I just got my hunger back yesterday. I am transitioning to mashies and I ate today. It was weird I felt full, as though i was full on top of the band, but my stomach was still growling and felt empty in the bottom. Does that make any sense? It did not satisfy my hunger and I was very frustrated, but I could, not eat anymore.

Restriction is supposed to squeeze the nerves that send a signal to ur brain that it ur hungry as well as restrict the amount of food u can eat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
