This sounds silly but, since I have made the decision to get banded it seems like time is standing still before my doctor's appt. My appointment to see my doctor have a check-up get my pap, and talk to her about submitting to insurance is on the 8th. I swear that feels like a lifetime away....LOL I know I am just anxious (in a good way) to get this all started.

What should I do between now and then to maybe start preparing for everything?

- I have already found a board certified surgeon that takes my insurance and has been doing this for 10+ years.

- I have started sampling Protein Shakes to see which ones I like enough to keep drinking during liquids phase.

- I have had a long discussion with my husband about the surgery and he is totally on board and completely supportive.

- I have done so much research on-line about the surgery.

- I have read practically every post on these boards....(not really)

Am I crazy or what? ;)

You're not crazy... just prepared! Not a bad thing. I'd also suggest giving up carbonated beverages, and start doing some light exercise if you are able. Sounds like you are right on track so just keep doing what you're doing.

Wish you the best on your journey.

I second Daisychains' post... I would also add to ask lots of questions, research as much as you can, and check out a support group. Once your scheduled, find someone who's scheduled around the same day as you are and buddy up! I met a girl, same surgeon, who ended up being scheduled and hour and a half before me and we texted about all our aches and pains and questions and it was great. My Hubbie is super supportive and helpful, but someone going through it the same time as you makes all the difference in the world! Good luck to you!!

Did you check whether your specific plan covers the surgery? I only ask because eat employers plan is different.

I gave up all calorie drinks, bad carbs, and started very light exercise (just to establish a routine).

I also went ahead and started making sure to get my Protein in and experiented as to the number of calorioes and carbs that was going to be my "magic" numbers.

I also stocked my pantry with everthing I tought I might need. (don't do this until you get insurance approval)

I have a list that I will be glad to send you if you send me your email. It has been posted many times on here in the past but it is rather lenghthy

I agree with what has been said. I definitely think starting some exercise is good. It will give you something to do, help you lose a little weight and get you used to it so after surgery it will be easier to get started. Good luck!

When they submit to the insurance do they use the weight from your 1st consult or your current weight I had a BMI of 39.1 and I have been losing but I'm afriad by the time they submit I wont get approved I do have sleep apnea high blood pressure high chlorestoral diabetes oteosarthritis in my knees and diagnosed severly obese since 2006 so I think with my comorbs it wont matter but it still worries me. I always lose some wieght when I start something different but never seem to be able to maintian it so I would like to have the lapband to help me get where I need to be & stay there I'm only 42 and I feel 82

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
