Nj Insurance After Lapband Surgery

Recommended Posts

had the surgery; now the dr. no longer takes my insurance (and frankly, i'm not thrilled with him); so, i'm looking for private insurance to cover the issues i'm having with my lapband (it has already once slipped and it twisted as well) and now, basically i need to find out if there is a leak in it or it slipped again as i am putting weight back on...

the prices i am being quoted are like $600 per month....i can't do it...any other suggestions, options, advice?

thanks,

s

The only other thing you could do is look for a Dr who is either willing to work out payment with you or go to Mexico. So, do you still have insurance and just can't find a Dr who accepts it? If so, I would call all band Dr's within an hour or two of me and try and find one.

Hmm, that's interesting. Have you tried to go on your insurance website and search for participating Dr's?

You should be able to contact you insurance directly and ask them to send you a list of doctors.

I also have Anthem and found it in the same place. If you can't seem to find it on the site, do call the customer service number.

I met my out of pocket max for the year, so nothing for me. It looks like my surgeon charges $100 per fill, so if I had not satisfied my OOP I would assume it would be 20% of the bill...

I will have met my total out of cost expense for the year so Anthem will pay 100% until Jan 2013 so I'm hoping be at my sweet spot by then(if I get banded this summer)so I wont have much out of pocket in 2013

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
