Banded 22Nd May & Hungry

Recommended Posts

Is it normal to feel hungry? I definitely feel full once I have eaten and I am sticking to liquids only! I have 1cc of Fluid in my band & due my fill on 26th June.

One other thing I have been experiencing a fluttering sensation in my chest & tummy ... Has anyone else had this?

I was banded on the 22 nd also and I know the fluttering feeling you are experiencing is gas. I have had gas since the surgery but it seems a little better today. Im taking gas x for that. Have you started full liquids yet. I started today and it has helped a lot

That's good to know, my fluttering has started to pass today as well!

What do you mean full liquid? I'm in UK & I was advised to have anything that can go through a straw & 2 to 3 litres of Water a day.

When is your band fill? I can't wait to get my first fill :-)

Full liquids means that I added Protein Drinks and sugar free pudding and cream Soups to my diet. My dr started me off on Clear Liquids from the day before surgery until Thursday the 24 th. i am having a problem consuming my Water intake. In fact I'm still full from this morning all I had was a Protein Drink. I'm not sure what my fill is. The dr had to remove some of my fill after surgery because it was a little to much for me according to the swallow test in the lab

Waw I have been on yogurt since the hospital, I have a gastric band but I am sure they are the same thing. That sounds great you are full after a shake, I feel the same as I did before surgery however I have almost no liquid in my band. I get my fill on the 26th June and can't wait to feel the restriction!

Good Luck :-)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
