Maybe A Silly Question

Recommended Posts

I Have a silly question I think but I'm curious. This summer I plan on going to a park with roller coaster rides. Has anyone with a lap band been on fast rides and had any bad reaction with their band? I've always been nervous about rides making me sick - even before lap band. Now I'm wondering if having a band will make it worse, better, or no difference. Thanks!

Somebody else asked this the other day, We must all plan on rollercoasters this summer.

I haven't been able to fit on one in years but I can now and come August I'm going to ride every ride in the park.

I don't think the band would affect you at all.

Have Fun!

I was banded April 6, 2012 and have already been to several amusement parks and gone on all the rides without a problem.

I have wondered about this. Specifically if the force of the coaster throwing you about and into the gaurd rail could possibly hurt the band...

I've never been a coaster fan - as in I'M TERRIFIED OF THEM! I would always be the benchwarmer when my late husband and friends went on them. But last year, my new husband and I went to Disneyland and I went on everything. I have to admit - I had fun! Didn't bother my band a bit (actually, I never even thought about it). This past Christmas-time we went to knotts berry Farm with my husbands kids. He got me on everything there too - even the upside down ones. Scared but had fun anyway!

I think they're perfectly safe. I can't imagine what the jerking would do to a plastic band that attached to us would even do? Have fun!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
