Suddenly Feel Too Tight Po 7Months-Advice??

Recommended Posts

7 months post op...got home from work and all of a sudden felt really tight. was slightly nauseous but that passed quickly. but drinking Water is not going well. I didn't drink today while at work, had coffee, but no water so when I tried to have water I couldn't "chug" at all like normal. Tried having dinner and while it stayed down, no puking, no mucus, I couldn't eat more than a few bites and my throat feels "tight." Will this resolve or should I go get the band loosened in the am? Worried because I have to take a flight in ten days and if this doesn't resolve I can't imagine what will happen post flight. Advice??

I would try drinking a lot of Water tomorrow and see if you are just dehydrated.

Have you had a fill recently? If not, I would consider going in and requesting them to check your band placement, just to be sure you haven't slipped. The last thing you needs is a slip when you're traveling.

No, I've only had one fill...like 5 months ago. I'll try the Water. Because nothing hurts...no mucus no discomfort beyond the tightness..same tightness i felt when i had my first fill....

This could be due to stress, dehydration or TOM...trying slowly sipping Water and getting Protein in via shakes if needed.

If the sensation doesn't go away by Tues next week (Monday being a holiday) I would call the doctors office for a visit. I agree you don't want major disaster while out of town.

TOM?? Time of meal??....or type of meal? :)...Yeah if it's not better by tues or wed I will go see my doc. Not traveling far but still traveling. He said if I feel tight when I travel and don't want to remove Fluid from the band, I can do liquids only while out of town and resume a lap normal diet when i return. Thanks much for the advice!! I was so worried it was a sign of certain slippage.

As you may have figured out, your band has a mind of it's own sometimes and you may never have it totally figured out.

I just went in for a slight until because all of a sudden mine got really right and started getting stuck on everything and a little bit of reflux. Feel much better now.

If you notice reflux or your throat sore, don't wait to long before you go in and get it checked. That is one of the worse things you can do to your band.

Someone mentioned in another topic that the warm weather affects their band. It could be that is your problem, too! Take care, Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
