So I went in for my 6 week follow-up / 1st fill... I swear my surgeon said I had 7cc's in my band now... Only thing is, I feel the same!

I am kinda a moron, but wanted to see how much I can eat now before I feel full... 4 bowls of chex Cereal and 1 ice cream sandwich later I STILL DON'T FEEL FULL!!

WTF???

I thought maybe it would just take a minute to hit me... But that was 40 minutes ago!!

Is this how it's supposed to be? Cause it is not what I expected it to be like!

My doctor requires me to do liquids for 24 hours following a fill.

It sometimes takes several fills until you reach restriction. Until that happens, you should follow your doctor's instructions. "Testing" your band can lead to band slippage and other complications.

Cereals and icecream can slip through pretty easily so they aren't the best foods for testing your band. How do you go with a small meal of Protein and vegetables?

and as others have said, it typically takes several fills for you to feel restriction/satiety. But the band is a tool and should not be relied upon to control or manage your intake. You need to use it in conjunction with healthy eating and exercise to achieve success.

Welcome to Bandster Hell. Unless Tracey is right? Try the real food and stay away from the processed cereal crap.

Testing your band is not a good idea.

As to eating crap and expecting your band to stop you well it just isn't going to happen.

If you want to test if you have any restriction try eating a balanced meal of some meat or chicken and some vegetables. The aim when you are testing is not to see how much you can stuff in , the aim is to see if you can eat the recommended amount and not be hungry for 3 - 4 hours afterwards.

When we talk about hunger we mean real hunger not the type that comes from boredom, or stress or just craving something because it looks or tastes good.

During my surgery the doctor allegedly added 3cc. At my 1st fill the NP added 1cc. Before the 2nd fill, the NP actually measured the saline already in my band. Turned out to have 6.4cc. I was given another 0.5cc and still feel no restriction. I have to make a conscious effort to eat a balanced meal of about 300 calories over 30 minutes. I'm hungry again in 2-3 hrs. I hope my 3rd fill does the trick. I'm at 6.9cc in a 10cc band.

Just hang in there. I'm sure it will come for the both of us.

I know how you feel- I am filling up on Protein and following the dr. diet verbatim- but I'm always hungry. But, I have NO restriction- 0 in my band. Bandster hell is not fun. So looking foward to a fill!!

Yikes! Why are u eating 4 bowls of chex mix cereal? Are u really that hungry? Or are u just eating to eat? Sorry but that seems a bit much even for a non banded person.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
