Lets Get This Ball Rolling!

Recommended Posts

I was banded late June of 2011 and found out September 1st of 2011 that I was pregnant! So I FINALLY got a fill yesterday and am at 5cc in a 10cc band. Being a mommy to a 5 week old is definitely challenging with free time so im really hoping that I will have enough time to cook healthy meals and be able to exercise enough. I live in Texas so its already hot out and doesnt cool off enough til dark so going walking with the baby is not really an option until shes a little older. Im really excited to get back on track and was VERY happy to hear that I had only gained 10 lbs since my last appointment in August of last year! I am hoping that I have enough restiction but I am still on mushy foods until late tomorrow so I am still able to eat quite a bit I guess because these are sliders for the most part? Anyway I guess I am just rambling but I would love some suggestions on how busy moms are able to stay true to the lap band lifestyle!

I'm not banded yet, but I have 3 kids - 5, 7 and 8 - so I'm definitely busy!

I'd say it's all about being prepared. Plan your meals in advance so you're less likely to have to come up with something on the spot. That's always when I get into trouble! Bring your own food whenever possible. If you have to eat out, check for nutritional information on the restaurant's website - most places offer info these days.

Good luck!

Oh! And where in Texas are you?

I'm north of DFW. If you can find a shady place to walk, I bet the little one will be fine. Make it a couple of 10 min walks if you have to - better than nothing, right? :) (That's what I've been doing at work.)

I am in central Texas between Dallas and Austin. Unfortunately there is NO shade in my neighborhood. And the one park close to me that has a paved walking track doesnt have hardly any trees, :[

Ha! Its like reading my story!

I was banded on 6/29/11 & was pregnant before my first fill.

I had my baby on 4/4/12 & got my very first fill on 5/9/12.

I also live in Tx and find the heat hard to deal with when wanting to work out.

Its also hard to switch gears from being pregnant and focusing on a baby then going back on the band journey. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
