Just One Of Those Days..

Recommended Posts

Don't get me wrong, I dont regret my decesion to get the lapband, but today is just one of those days that I struggle. Not with wanting to eat a lot but rather just to be able to eat some things I use to preband.

I have successfully eat a scrambled egg, a Protein Shake and some mashed potatoes. I tried ( for the first time) to eat a baked pork chop and found out quickly that it is now among the list of things I can no longer have.

It's worth it because my weight loss has been steady but I just felt like venting, that's why I subscribe to this site because I am sure some of you have felt the same..

Tomorrow is a new day!

In my first months after being banded I felt the same way. Then I realized it was not what I was eating as much as how I was eating. Honestly, I can eat anything if i follow the rules. Small bite, Chew, Chew, Chew and eat slowly.

With each fill I would have to learn this all over again because it was so different.

I have not had a stuck episode in months. I eat, pork, beef, chicken, fish. all of it. I tend to stay away from bread and Pasta but not so much because of the "stuck" issue (altho... the chances greatly increase) but because I get full really fast, and because of the calories. There are definately foods that don't go down as well, but if i am really really mindful when I'm eating them I don't have a problem.

Of course, this is me and if there is one thing I have learned it is that the band is very different for everyone.

Keep up the good fight - Best of Luck!

MsDuran,

When did you get banded? Sometimes it takes up to a year before you could have some chops.

Funny you say this because I actually went back and tried it again very small and very slow and I had no problem. I think or I know sometimes I get in a hurry. That was great advice. Like I said tomorrow is a new day..!

I've always been a fast eater. One of the hardest things for me to do is to slow down and eat small bites. Sometimes I eat small bites but I'm shoveling one more bite in before the first one has a chance to squeeze into my pouch. I start many meals this way and it only takes 3-4 bites for my pouch to remind me what a schmuck I am. I don't want to say I'm stuck, I'm just not able to eat anything for about 15 minutes while the food I've crammed down my face is being painfully squeezed through the band.

I'll learn and it's all me I know.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
