Halloechen Sigrid- schoen das du zu uns gefunden hast - wo in Deutschland bist du denn?

Hi Sigrid - nice that you found our forum- from where in germany are you?

Are you also on the german magenband forum?

Where in germany did you get your band?

Did you insurance pay for it or did they make you jump through hoops as so many tell on the german forum?

Ich werde mein magenband am Dienstag bekommen und bin im moment in der "Nur fluessiges" phase.

Hope to hear more from you - Willkommen! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Welcome to LBT! It's so great to talk to people all over the world. I am also impressed by the command of the German language I am seeing here. Sorry, I can't participate in German, but it's fun to read!

Good luck in your Banded journey!

Cindy

Guten Tag, und Welkommen;

I lived in Weisbaden for five years, 1992 - 1997. I would love to go back to visit. Enjoy your new journey into lapband land.

I spent 5 years in Mainz, Germany and speak the German language...Haag Deutch to be exact, which is spoken in and around Bavaria. I loved Germany while I was there. My Dad was born and raised there, and I look forward to going back there within the next yr. to visit. There are a couple of different lap bands here and there is of course gastric bypass. Hope you have good luck with your band and keep in touch with us.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
