LATONYASINGLETON 1 Posted May 21, 2012 I have lost 36.3 pounds, but I really would like to loose 15 to 20 pounds a month. Do you all think that is too many pounds per month?
elcee 3,341 Posted May 21, 2012 A healthy weight loss is between 1 - 2lb per week which equals between 4 and 8lb a month. If you are hugely overweight you may lose quicker initially but it will slow down. What you have to remember is you didn't gain the weight overnight and you won't lose it that way either. Remember every lb you lose no matter how slowly is better than you gaining a lb. I would have loved to have got the band and woken up skinny the next morning but it didn't happen. LOL But what did happen was that I lost weight slowly and steadily over a period of about 6 months until I got to goal. So slow and steady is good
OxnardCaGirl 1 Posted May 21, 2012 When did you get banded? From what I have been reading on here, the average profile has shown just under 10lbs a month. However, everybody is different. I think we need to think about how long it took to put it on.
Skyvic 226 Posted May 21, 2012 Just think of the story of the turtle and the hare. This should not be a race, it's going to take a steady consistent process. Follow the rules and excercise as you gain strength and lose weight. I don't read statistics but I have heard over five years gastric and band end up about same. Yes band is slower. I wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoy the journey!
LATONYASINGLETON 1 Posted May 21, 2012 I was banded March 28, 2012. I love the band I had my first fill on May 17 I eat about 1 cup of food every meal. I exercise 45 minutes four to five days a week.
2muchfun 8,927 Posted May 21, 2012 It's too much to expect as well as nearly impossible. You have to use 3500 calories more than you consume to lose 1 lb. If you burn 2000 calories a day and consume 1300 calories a day you have burned or used 700 more than you took in. 700 X 30 days= 21000 calories burned in a month. 21000/3500= 6 lbs lost. Of course if you consume fewer calories and exercise more those figures can change but not by much. The weight we all lost in the first 6 weeks is mostly Water retained by our bodies. It's still less weight and it's still a good thing. tmf

OxnardCaGirl 1 Posted May 22, 2012 You Rock LaTonya! You exercise a whole lot, so you are probably gaining muscle and that is even better because although muscle weighs more than fat, Muscle burns fat at a faster rate!!! Therefore, in the near future, the pounds will begin to melt off!! Great Job! I will definitely follow your progress. Thanks for giving me your band surgery date. I didn't see it on your profile page. I'm very happy you are succeeding! I hope to be there with you soon! OxnardGirl

Do you all think that is too many pounds per month?[/quote'] I think with just having a band you are maybe asking for too much. If you lose between 8-10 pounds a month that is awesome.
