Finally Back On The Wagon...er...treadmill

Recommended Posts

Omg. Went to the gym today for the first time in over a month. My husband and I used to work out 3-4x/wk but have slacked for months now, hardly going.

Today, I worked myself hard. Nothing crazy, but not the namby-pamby "workouts" I've done on the rare trips to the gym.

I'm dying! Lol

Definitely need to get back in the swing of things. I'm feeling motivated for the first time in ages, plus we're starting a walking challenge at work this week - GCC. Anyone heard of it or possibly doing it?

Going to let my body rest tomorrow and then start again on Tues!

Oops hit send on phone too fast....3 weeks later I'm actually craving excercise including Water aerobics, weights, circuit, bikes, sit ups on a ball, and just plain walking at the park 2-3 miles. It replaces the food thing in many ways. Kids are getting out to hang at park while I walk with my best friend. A life change indeed...wouldn't have done this a year ago!!

Exactly! I miss that feeling.

Today, we got home and had lunch...we'd discussed a trip to the dog park. Instead, we both passed out on the couch. When we woke up, I looked at him and said, "This is NOT good! We can't wind up like this again!"

I used to crave exercise. I'll get there again. :)

Lol, one foot in front of the other, its the only way. Eventually it becomes habit and even more eventually, perhaps a love.

I used to be the worlds worst exerciser, it took SO much willpower. Now I absolutely crave it, love it and put off other things to do it. And once you've experienced true fitness, the type that means you can run half marathons and such, you really wont want to let that go. Most people go through life, even people that do exercise, never knowing what its like to be that fit.

And I cant type on my phone either! Barely even try. I'm even hopeless on the ipad, that's impossible. You can always tell when I'm on a computer or on the ipad!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
