I'm doing okay, just not sure what or how much I'm suppose to eat. I think I've walked the gas out. I was finally able to go to the bathroom, haven't been since Monday. Just wish I could have more energy.

No wonder you are confused! The best person to listen to at this stage is your surgeon as he knows what is necessary for healing.

Your diet seems to be progressing far quicker than most peoples. The standard is usually 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks mushies, 2 weeks soft and then finally progressing to normal foods at 6 weeks.

Watch what you eat carefully, make sure you are not getting any discomfort and if you do have problems slow down and go back to the previous food stage for a while. Advancing the diet too fast postop can lead to problems.

My surgeon said 2 days clear, 2 days full then soft. I don't have any problems with food going down because I'm only eating about as much food you can fit into a small jar of baby food

I remember being in liquids, full liquids, and soft mushies for quite awhile...couple weeks at a time. You really want to make sure your body, incisions, and tummy heal. Good luck:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
