I hope this finds everyone doing good. I am doing great except i finally got the steri stips off my stomach. Every spot where one was is a huge red welt. I knew i was allergic to surgical tape and bandaids but now i guess i got to add steri stips to that list. My wounds themself look good except the huge red areas around them where the strips was. Sigh. Its been 5 days since they came off but it still looks bad. Other then that i am still seldom feeling hungry. Still taking in less then 1000 calories a day. I have been spending all my free time with my mom here in the hospital. Sometimes feel like i need to clone myself. One to work one to take care of my mom one for my child at home and one to take care of ME.. lol anyone got a clone machine anywhere?

I've been using Vit E oil. It may also help with the irritation. No clone machine here but don't push yourself too hard.

lol.. boy.. i think you need a clone machine. lol. i think you are doing a marvellous job. Way to go. REgarding the steri strips and your skin reaction... i had that as well. in fact i came up in watery blisters that were huge. plus a very red inflamed area around each one. It took a few weeks for the reaction to die down. i was using calamine lotion on mine and it helped a lot with the itch. theres not a lot else you can do really. dont try and remove any blisters or skin. antihistimines are good... plus a lotion like i used is very good. i still get a bit itchy, 2 months out, but i can have a little scratch now and its not hurting anything. Good luck. i hope your mum is better soon. my mum is pretty much full on at the moment as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
