Just Had My Surgery Today.

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery at 11 this morning. All went well although I had a hiatal hernia they had to repair first. I haven't had pain meds in a while and the only thing that's really sore is where my port is anchored.

I can't wait to see what's ahead.

I had surgery today at noon! I also had a surprise hiatial hernia repair. I feel great tonight. Recovery was a breeze, I have a little discomfort from the air they used...my back and shoulders could feel better but so far I'm happy!

Good luck to you on your journey!!

Jen- nice to meet you. I know what you mean about the gas/air, mine was really bad just out of surgery but seemed to have gone away.

Where are you? What city? I live in Wichita but my surgery was in Overland Park, KS.

Good luck to you too.

I had my surgery at noon on the 18th too! I am taking the pain meds every four hours.... just decide to use it to 5 now instead of 4 and so on... Plan is to move to liquid tylenol on Sunday. Feeling fine except I am a little sore on my left where my port is. Good luck to all my band buddies

I've been up and around the house quite a bit, and walked to the mailbox(about 200 ft away). My two small kids are making me get up and around more than I really want to at this point.

How are you?

I am okay. I just don't know how much moving I am suppose to be doing. I get up and walk for 5 minutes around my house every hour is this not enough? struggling to get all my fluids in!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
