How do you know if your band has slipped? Every once and a while I get this horrible pain that starts in my stomach (front) and travels through to my back. This morning the only thing I ate was a greek yogart after walking this am (finished the walk around 6:30) and the pain did not start until about 7:30. It's 9:00 now and I've just taken some tylenol. I don't undertstand this pain and I mentioned it to my surgeon on my last visit as it seemed I got the pain after eating salad. But I eat yogart all the time. Does anyone else get this?

Okay, as fast as the pain comes on, it's gone. So it's 9:15 and gone. This is typical, the pain has last about 2 hours. anyone else?

Could be gas or gallbladder. I've known people who's band slipped and they were in nonstop, horrible pain and just about uncontrollable vomiting. Did your dr check everything out when you told them about the pain?

He basically told me he thought it was the brocoli, and maybe that I didn't chew enough. the nurse at work said something about gall bladder. I go back on the 31st of this month. I will ask again. I don't know if it's gas because I wasn't burping or anything to have the pain go away.

I would keep an eye on it and journal those episodes, but consult with your doctor. Do you have that communication to call a nurse from bariatric team?

I agree that it could be your gall bladder. It sounds similar to what I experienced when I needed mine out.

Thanks everyone. I will start writing everthing down. It's so weird. I can go days without the pain and it doesn't matter what I eat, like I said salad sometimes, and this am a greek yogart and about an hour after I eat it starts and builds, peaks and then in a blink of an eye it's gone.

I get that and have since the early days. Starts dead centre, just below the breast bone, horribe gnawing steady pain. I cant relieve it by moving or getting into any particular position. It radiatates into my throat, the roof of my mouth and sometimes my back, then suddenly, it just stops.

Ive had my and for seven years, am having a lot of trouble with heartburn, but hafnt had this pain for well over a year until the other day. Jts unrelated to food, i know that much.

I had to have my gallbladder out 6 months after banding. Horrible pain. Nausea, sweating, and pain. Lots of pain. It would come and go. No rhyme or reason. Didn't seem to matter what I ate or drank. I would have your gallbladder checked out. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
