I was banded on a Monday morning and went back to work the following Saturday night. I was sore to bend. What helped me the most was to wear a girdle that goes up to your bra to give support. After a few days, I didn't need the girdle anymore. My first night at work was the first time I needed to take something for the pain.

I was back in 4 days. Everyone is different. Go back when you feel that you can do your job. If it is physical you may need a bit more time. I had to run down a hallway about 2 days after I was back, didn't really hurt just a bit uncomfortable.

i had surgery on a Thursday and I went back that next Friday. So I was off for 7 days. I was fine. I sit at a desk all day so I dont know what you do at work will make a difference. Another lady that works with me had the surgery with a diff doctor and she was out 14 days. I actually could have went back that Monday. I was a little soar in the morning from laying down all night or sitting down all day but I felt fine once I got up and moving.

My doc gave me 6 weeks. I was not ready to go back even after the 2nd week. IMHO if you have the time to take, take it. I'm glad I did.

I had surgery on Thursday and went back to work the following Monday... I'd have been better if I waited till Wednesday, but it really wasn't so bad! Days 1, 2 and 3 wre the worst... the rest was just GAS :-). Everyone's different tho!

Thanks Lenay - I've been at a stand still for a while... I'm ready for the next little bit to drop off! So here I sit drinking water... hopefully that will wipe out some of that Taco Bueno I had tonight :-) LOL. Also, I got my hair cut today - maybe that will account for 1/2 lb? Ha.

Lenay -

No - I'm not scared of erosion. I figure if it happens, it happens. Then I get the band taken out. I think it's a relatively new technology and who knows how long it can really stay in there. BUT, that said, I'm trying to use the time I have with the band to learn how to eat differently. Maybe I'll have it for the rest of my life and how cool would that be?? But, if I don't, then I feel like I have to use it to help me learn new habits now while I can.

The band is just a tool that helps me know when to stop eating. How much I can eat depends on what time of day it is.... not a lot in the mornings because I'm a little tighter and food doesn't go down as easy. By night time, I can really eat more than I'm supposed to. If I get any type of food out, then I eat MAYBE half of it and take the rest to work the next day. If I'm home, then something like a lean cuisine is more than enough (that size portion anyway). Some people can't eat that much, but I've not had a problem with it. I think you're supposed to stick somewhere between 3/4 and 1 c at a meal - although I'm having a hard time figuring out how to gauge that. I use the portion size (like meats no bigger than a deck of cards) to set my limits when I feel like I could eat more than that.

I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Wednesday. The first 3 days are the worst with the soreness and gas pains, and then it gets better each day. I think it actually made me feel BETTER to put on makeup, fix my hair, and get out among the real world. I get in a funk if I go more than the occasional day in sweats, ponytail, and no makeup, lol.

I had surgery Wed and am scheduled to return tomorrow. I think I am going to work from home until my staples come out (this coming Wed). I could dl work pain-wise, but my staples hit right where my pants go. If i work from home I can lounge in my bathrobe until the staples are out.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
