Hey Everyone,

It has been a while since I have been on the boards. But I just wanted to some things with you all. I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING THIS PAST FEW WEEKS.

Over the past few weeks, I have not exercised like I should. I have been constantly snacking and just feeling…BLAH. I have even lost my love for running. Not that I was a big time runner anyway, but I do like to so what I call”Jalkwing” (jogging and walking). A few weeks ago I had a adjustment and it was too tight…I lost like 13 lbs in 7 days and was not able to keep anything down, so I decided to get it removed and I think he took out too much. I am now back to 193 lbs …that is like 6 lbs more than I gained when I started drinking after the removal. Sugar is my weakness and I have been indulging. I do not want to be really skinny, but I do think that I want to go down to 170 lbs. What can I do to get my “mojo” back…I am feeling so fat and bloated…what do I need to do to change this today!

Well, you've had a little band vacation, and now it's time to get back to work!

First of all, consider getting another fill. If you don't know how many cc's you had before the unfill, ask your surgeon or the person who does the fills. Then ask for a fill that's not quite as much as that. For example, if you had 8 cc's and they took out 1 cc, ask for a fill of .5 cc (that's just an example - there's no magic fill amount that will get you going again).

Then, pick one thing to change about your behavior. If you've been drinking alcohol, that would be a good place to stop since alcohol is empty calories and loosens your inhibitions so that a bag of chips or Cookies looks like a dandy idea.

When you've got that behavior under control, pick another one, like exercise. It might help if you found yourself a "jalkwing" buddy who'll expect you to show up to walk/run at a given time, and keep you company while you do it.

Then pick another behavior, like eating sugary stuff. Go through your kitchen, pantry, fridge, freezer, car, desk, locker, or wherever else that stuff might be stashed. Throw out opened packages and donate the unopened ones to a food bank or neighbor or friend.

You can do it!

That is what is great about the band. You can always start over.

Please don't beat yourself up. Ok, you had some struggles. But don't dwell in your struggles. Tomorrow is a new day and a chance to start over. Start slow and work at a new goal weekly/monthly. Don't compare yourself to anybody else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
