Sandrie 23 Posted May 17, 2012 Has anyone had Constipation? I'm 7 days post op and had none! I took a stool softener on Tuesday night(nothing). Had 1 cube of a chocolate laxative this am at 4am. Hopefully it will work. I will drink more Water today. I'm scared, I've never had this problem! Do u think it's because I have been on a liquid diet for 3 1/2 weeks? Pre diet surgery I had no problem! Give me ur advice?
Jepegurl 23 Posted May 17, 2012 Do you feel constipated? I was postop but was really miserable, gas wasn't coming through either. I felt pregnant again. I called my doc and he suggested Milk of Magnesia and if that didn't work, Miralax. If that didn't work, glycerin suppositories and then Fleets enemas if still no results. His 5th suggestion was going to be Mag Citrate. I'd call them though. This is just what was suggested to me.
honk 780 Posted May 17, 2012 You can also try adding unflavored benefiber to you liquids. I am fully healed and I dd it to my daily greek yogurt and I think it helps me stay regular.
yellowrose88 43 Posted May 17, 2012 You can also try Smooth Move Tea. You can purchase it the tea at any grocery store. It has worked wonders for me. I have tried benefiber and it doens't work for me. My doc told me about the tea because I was having the same problem and he told me I could drink it a couple of times a week. You drink it before you go to bed and relief in the morning. Good luck!
daisychains7 427 Posted May 17, 2012 Keep taking the stool softeners daily, because it takes 12-72 hours to work. I had to take them every day for probably 3 days til i could have a BM. Also warm liquids may help. I know it's frustrating!

kiwijo 2 Posted May 18, 2012 I am in this situation too. I'm 4 days post op and haven't had a BM yet but I'm also on a Fluid only diet so wonder what there is to actually pass. I've been taking Kiwicrush daily to help which is a kiwifruit based fibre product but still nothing. I'm walking twice a day and drinking lots so hopefully it will happen soon.
