4th day post op

Recommended Posts

hi friends, I seem to be doing ok, just a bit down. the pain (muscle pain) near my 3 inch incision is a killer. It seems to be getting better, but it really takes your breadth away. I seem to get that heartburn feeling in the chest if I drink too much and I see to be not hungry in the am. Overall I feel ok, I bit tired but ok. I decided to take all of next week off since I have this terrible pulled muscle pain. Does it ever get better? I hate looking like a hunchback when im walking. And I really dont want people at work to see me like this. My doc said the pain is normal, the large incision is where everything was done, port, stitches, his hand was actually in there, so that explaines it. Overall i feel good, I just want to feel great!

Hi there...I think we had the lapband on the same day, obviously different places. Believe me I know what you mean with this pain. I have called my doctor two days in a row because of this pain and he says it is very normal and it is not going to go away completely. I have learned that if you sit for long periods it bothers more when you get up, by try and lay down and relax and I am sure you will feel better. Today I showered and have on normal clothing and I feel a lettle less pain, but when I get up I have a little hunchback, but I immediately try and straighten myself. I have not lost an ounce, that is for sure...

Good Luck...

I held my stomach up whenever I would go to stand. It seemed to help.

My first week was killer, the 2nd week was mildly discomforting, the 3rd week I'm doing great & exercising again.

Hang in there, it gets better! :)

Hi there....I am at day 5 post op. I am having some of that pain....but I barely notice it because the gas pain in my left shoulder hurts SOOOO much worse....

I was wondering however how you feel as far as restriction goes. I can't eat much at one time without feeling it (which is what I want). I thought this was just due to swelling and having recent surgery...so I want to know if others feel the same way?

<<he says it is very normal and it is not going to go away completely>>

You mean, this pain will never go away completely??? Oh man, that would be really bad. I sure am hoping it goes away completely! It's exactly as you describe and hurts horribly if I sneeze! I can't imagine going through life with this pain! I can't even stand up straight...

i am three days post op. the gas pains are starting to subside, thank god. the incision pains are tender but i am trying to walk. as i sit here typing this post, my stomach is singing a song. i am drinking some coffee for the first time in 3 days so that might be the cause or it could be the gas moving on out I HOPE. anyway as far as food, i ate 1/2 of a yougurt and that has been it. it didn't taste to well. it was very sweet. i also tried some applesause and the sweetness was nasty! overall though i think i am feeling better.

I was banded Wednesday. My most significant pain, which isn't that significant anymore, was from my largest incision. I don't believe it's the port incision because it's in the middle of my chest, about an inch below where my bra goes. The discomfort comes from a "pulling" sensation when I stand or walk, it does not hurt when I sit. About 2 days post op I realized that if I supported my stomach from underneath, basically carrying it with one hand, while I walk - it hurts much less and I can stand up straight w/o discomfort, whereas before I had to walk hunched over like an old lady.

Hope that helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
