9 More Days Until 1St Fill And Im Starving!

Recommended Posts

I was banded 4/27. Lost 14 pounds pre-op and have lost 11 pounds since the surgery. The past 2 days I have been sooooo hungry. I don't think I can take it anymore. Would it really be so awful if I bumped up my calories up to 1200 or at least started having small Snacks of edamame, low fat cheese or whole grain saltines between meals? I need help.

I think eating 1200 calories a day of healthy food would be fine, but strongly suggest that you break it up into 6 small meals or Snacks a day. Whatever you do, don't eat 3 meals at 400 calories each because that's likely to be far more volume than your still-healing stomach and band can safely handle.

If you eat Saltines or another starchy food, try to combine it with a Protein. If you don't, the starchy food will temporarily spike your blood sugar, and when it crashes, you'll feel hungrier than ever.

And...hang in there!

Thank you so much. I make sure to weigh all my meals so not to go over 4oz for each meal. I also got specialk Protein Water but that doesn't do a thing. I could defiantly roll up an oz of turkey for a snack and be ok.

I just had a fill on Monday and now I can not even eat a 1/4 of a banana. Is this normal? Before the fill I had no restriction at all.

If you can drink liquids without problems, you're OK for now. When you first get a fill, the increased pressure of the band against your stomach causes some irritation. As the irritation subsides and you get used to the new fill level, you'll find it a bit easier to eat. Remember, the whole idea of fills is to help reduce how much you're eating each day! Also, bananas can be iffy, though I don't know why since they're soft.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
