Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy

Recommended Posts

Angi,

For the meds definitely check with your pcp, because my surgeon had told me to keep on my diabetes pills however my pcp told me to be off of them for a week and then will see, I can tell you I been taking any of my pills whole and not mushed up, however I do it with plenty of Water and at least I have not had any problems. Just fine after taking them.

I can't wait to start next week with eggs, mashed potatoes . It is like the light at the end of the tunnel. With me specially the cheese addition is going to be great ; I also go back to work on Monday however I will be working on a project on my laptop for work in the weekend or today

Dr. Appt went well. He said the following things are normal:

Left shoulder pain, popping (gas), hormones surging (this is the worst for me) not sleeping good, but said everything looked good and if I was tolerating the week two foods to continue on. He also said he'd see me back in 3 weeks for my first fill on June 11th. Official loss in one week 13.2 lbs.

However, my perspective is I hate these hormone surges it's causing me to have crying meltdowns everyday, and I'm not sleeping good at all ugh!!!! Any thoughts????

Glad you both are doing well. 13.2 pounds is great!

I feel good. Can't really tell I had surgery now. I wish that I could start some foods! My surgeon seems very conservative.

I felt very emotional when I started my pre-op diet, I don't feel emotional now, I haven't been sleeping well at night either.

Hi Heather!

No, my port site is pretty pain free now. I have been pretty lucky, it doesn't hurt to sleep on it either. Glad to have another buddy!

Mine port site is still tender as well. I finally slept an almost normal night last night 9 days post op and the left shoulder pain is starting to resolve yay!!! I still have some twinges that take my breath away but at least they are fewer and further between.

Went to my first big outing last night a wedding. It wasn't hard to turn the cake away but the meal ugh it smelled so good! Lots of ice Water and tea for me with a couple of bites of mashed potatoes. Ohhh it was good. Anyway, I got tired a couple of hours in and we were home by nine. Guess another weeks rest will do me good.

I'm glad in not the only one that still hurts. I really think I've been going and doing too much. Church last sunday, ball games tuesday, church then Walmart Wednesday( VERY bad idea) ball practice Friday, errands Saturday( another really bad idea all that getting in and out of the car killed me) then church and a bday party today.

I am not doing much of anything around the house. But I think all the going and doing is keepin that port site inflamed

My port site does not hurt at all, however I still feel weird around the area, I actually feel pretty normal so I can return to work tomorrow . Also, I am so happy I ate egg whites and grits today finally some real food. I am so nervous about doing something to the lap band that I keep switching sides to sleep, I really can sleep on my back all night that good , do any of you suffer of diabetes?

No, I don't have diabetes.

I am having issues with sleeping too. I have been waking up a lot, even though I take an ambien. What's worse about that is that I have been known to eat when I have taken my pill. I think I ate some Cheetos last night! My husband and son still have junk food laying around here. (Neither one of them is overweight).

I have been getting leg cramps every hour. I am having a heck of a time sleeping so I get up and go downstairs and walk around. My BP meds have a diuretic in them and I haven't really ever had to take potassium supplements before although I do have some. They are huge! No way I'm going to try to swallow those.

I'm feeling so much better!! Still some pain at my incisions but I can do most things with minor discomfort. Sitting straight up for a long period of time is uncomfortable. I also try to limit bending over. But I feel alot better!

Starting to get more hungry now and downloaded myfitnesspal to track my foods. What a great tool it is. Also moved up to eggs yesterday and wow how great it was to taste them!!!

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and from the looks of it, there is lots of support going around. I banded on may 15th. I feel great. Tired of the liquid diet, and can't wait to get to mushies. Lol I never thought I would be so happy to eat pureed food

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
