Weight Gain After Plastic Surgery

Recommended Posts

So I'm pretty bummed right now. I got an unfil for plastic surgery may 1st, brachiplasty may 3rd. Since then I have gained 30 lbs!!!! Wtf! I realize I haven't been eating the healthiest but dang thats a lot of weight in 2 wks. I do have quite a bit of swelling still which accounts for some. I'm also not supposed to exercise for 3 wks minimum :(

So I decided to check my eating habits & I'm going to adk my ps if I can @ least start walking or riding a recumbent bike a little.

I was feeling super good prior to this... down 120 lbs in 13 months. I feel like a failure right now :(

For sure you are not a failure. You are just hiting a real life bump in the road called maintenance. Yes, finding restriction is going to be a royal pain, but you will do it, in the meantime enjoy yourself and there surely can be no reason to not walk after 2 whole wks. Yes, I can speak from personal experience...it will work out all right, I promise.

Hang in there It's tough without restriction. I would focus on eating the right even if the portions are larger than they will be when you get back to a sweet spot. My goal would be to maintain right now, if you stop gaining that would be a good first steo. Good luck

I'm guessing you did not gain 30 pounds of FAT in two weeks. I would reason to say that your body is probably holding on to extra Water, or perhaps you weren't properly hydrated before and this would be your real weight at the right hydration. I could easily see a 5 or 10 gain, but 30? Do your clothes still fit?

I'm now dwn 16 of the 30 lb gain :) I'm sure a lot of it was Water weight. My clothes were pretty snug for a bit but they r starting to fit again. Thank goodness bc I just turned over my closet & I have a ton of new clothes I wanna wear!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
