Check at 630am, scheduled for 830am I'm the first case. Nerves are getting the best of me right now. So many questions, so many what ifs. I probably will not sleep at all tonight.

Try to sleep a bit but be sure you have all u need for the hospital. I was banded last Thursday and was nervous too--but I packed a small bag, made sure my apt was clean, laundry done, creditcards and insurance cards in purse, took a long hot bath (which you wont be able to do for a few weeks post op due to the incisions) put on some comfy pj's and orderd a movie (to get my mind off being worried)> Everything went well the next day. There will be pain and there will be gas and discomfort but if everything goes well you will be fine!! Check back in with us and let us know how it goes!!

You'll be fine...you'll never be the same again...you'll just keep getting better! Now that you've made the choice to take care of "you", you'll never look back. Good luck...!

I stayed up til 2am the night of and had to be at the hospital at 5:30am. It was easier to keep my mind busy watching movies and such than try to restlessly sleep :)

My checkin is at 530am and surgery at 8am. Not much longer now! We live over an hr from the hosp so we opted to get a hotel. My 19 yo son is keeping me laughing. I hope he is going to let me get some sleep lol Hubby is coming to hosp when he gets off of work

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
