Hi,

Just wanted to stop by and say I'm new to the forum. I got my band almost 10 years and am having a few issues so I will ask my questions there.

Best to all!

Hi there! Welcome.

So how has your experience been? Any complications?

Hi,

I've lost 100lbs total but I go up and down 20lbs every now and then. My port disconnected and I need to have it fixed but am concerned about going back to Mexico at this time. I'm looking for other people's experience in Mexico to see if there are safety issues.

Overall I've had a positive experience; I loved my surgeon Dr. Kuri. I would love to lose another 40lbs but having kept off 100lbs for the past 10 years I'm pretty happy!

Wow thanks for reaching out to us! I'm sure there are other like myself who are recently banded (I was banded on THursday and am recovering well. Never knew I'd be so happy to fart, though. This gas is painful!!) and want to know what to look forward to down the line.

Have you found that the band gets in the way of certain activities: can partners feel it during intercourse? can you still do stretching/inversion exercises like yoga or pilates? do you get ise to it and "forget" it there and overeat??

Totally looking forward to your feedback. Thanks in advance!!!

Congrats on your band! As fas as my experience I have never had the band get in the way of anything. I've done yoga, pilates and various other forms of exercise/activites and have never felt it or found it got in the way of something.

You really can't overeat unless it's food that goes down easy like ice cream or chocolate but again that is my experience. I think everyones is a little different. My biggest problem is remembering to chew my food completely and taking smaller bites. I still have problems with what foods I can and can't eat. I think if I could live as a vegan or vegetarian food would be a little easier to eat. However I do like meat but have a problem eating certain cuts depending on how they are cooked.

There will be a learning curve but you'll get used to it and figure out what is best for you. Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
