I finally got my 1st fill yesterday..he put in 2.8cc in an 11cc band. I'm on liquids now for two days and then mushies for five days. I'm hoping this gives me some restriction. But my doctor said it could take up to four or five fills before I feel real restriction. Hopefully it doesn't take that long. My next fill is in 6 weeks. Good luck everyone.

After my fill, I've been doing great! I have restriction, and it's teaching me to eat slower and chew more! I see this is gonna work now!!

Ok guys help, I was filled for the first time 12 days ago and got 4cc's. It was great for a few days and now I can eat anything and am very hungry. I've lost 4 lbs the past 12 days but it's all in my own, I'm starving should I call for another full or wait out the next 18 days and stick to my 1200 calories and not going over.

@cleescrugs - It can't hurt to call but I believe from all my reading - we are in "band hell" and it's going to take a little bit and a few fills to get us where we need to be.... And it sucks! I was banded on 4/10 could of had a fill four wks out but "your loosing so lets wait another four". Yikes! Cause I can eat too much I think for being banded and lately 1000 cals is more then a little hard - so hard that I'm tired of journaling and I found myself eating with my kids last night and not healthy choices! So bring on tuesday before I fall off the side of this cliff!

I had surgery 4/20 and fill (4cc in 11cc band) 5/30... I am kind of bummed as not feeling anything. Next will be 7/11. They said if I'm losing 1lb a week they prob won't but I'll be pushing them as if I'm just dieting on my own as it is now I want a fill to get the tool to help !

feels like a mack truck moving slowly and i am slowly down the road of your smaller 'stomach" area...I feel every turn of that truck when i get stuck...my back hurts the most(upper back)....i sometimes get a headache also....until it passes, it is miserable.I have not had a fill yet, surgery 4-18, but scheduled for 6-13...

I had surgery in Las Vegas and I am back home in Fort Lauderdale and I go see the doctor that was my second choose to have done the surgery...I went wth the doc in Vegas as he took Medicare and got me approved fast and with my second choose I was looking at August at the earliest....but i think the second doc will be a better fit as far as bed side manner...first doc just seemed to be to be an assembly line....my opinion....

I was banded on April 17th, and had a fill on June 1st. 3cc, I don't feel any restriction, except when the scales are not showing weight loss. That makes me want to up the walking and be careful what goes in my mouth. I know the restriction will come, so it's best to learn to chew thoroughly, and eat lean Protein 1st. I'm down 28 lbs, but my eyes still want alot of the "good foods" that got me into this shape to begin with. Best wishes and good luck!

I was banded on 4/26 and have lost a little over 28 pounds...I was scheduled for my second "adjustment"/fill today but had to reschedule since I am home with pnemonia--which resulted a 6 pound in two day loss. I have really been struggling this month. Hope all goes well once I am feeling better and not taking the antibotic that has taken away my appetite. :)

I was banded on April 12th and so far have lost 55 lbs. The last 2 weeks have been rough my band was too tight with 4.5 cc. After many calls and an ER visit the doctor finally took 2.5 cc out so the swelling around the band will go down. On a liquid diet for the rest of the week and I'm starving. I never realized how many food commercials are out there. Enough complaining I'm vey happy with my weight lost on 70 more to go.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
