Am having a hard time getting my protean drinks down. Does anyone know what would happen if I didn't drink the protean drinks? Also what are some good ones that y'all have found cause all the ones I have tried taste like bad. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I like the EAS AdvantEdge. Tastes like strawberry Quik milk to me. I accidently froze mine and ate it like ice cream until I saw I wasnt supposed to. I called the company and they said it would only expand and distort the carton it comes in and the texture would change. It worked for me!!!

Hey Jenn, I really like the Atkins shakes the best for taste. They DON'T have as much Protein as the EAS or Premier, Unjury, etc.... I just bought some of the premier ones at costco (on sale right now) and I like those too. I have the unjury powder and I like the chocolate splendor a lot and the chicken Soup is great for the liquid phase. I haven't had the vanilla or strawberry yet. I really think this is a trial and error for each of us. I have bought most of the ones talked about on here. I greatly dislike the muscle milk light. yuckie to me. Hope this helps you some, good luck!

I actually found a really delicious one by a company called Syntrax. The brand is nectar and the chocolate Truffle flavor is awesome! It doesn't even taste like you're drinking a Protein shake...give it a try! The Vanilla Bean Torte flavor isn't bad either, and they have a whole variety of fruit flavors too.

where did you find it? On-line or health food stores?

Not consuming enough Protein means that you are more likely to lose muscle mass than fat. If necessary in the healing stages, drink milk. You'll have to drink more than you would drink of shakes, but if you cannot find a shake you'll actually drink, you need to.

You could also have Hair loss without enough Protein. :o

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
