Everyone's case is unique to them, but the important thing to remember is that IF you were to be denied at the first letter, there is an appeal process that you can follow for reconsideration. There are many variables to consider (BMI, co-morbidities, insurance policy coverage, etc.). I hope that you are approved with the first letter...good luck! Keep us posted on your progress. eyeononederland 27 Posted May 15, 2012 I'm paranoid I'll be denied, too. My BMI is typically around 38 and I don't have any comorbids. I registered a BMI of 40.1 at my first WLS doc visit, but my history simply shows that I've hovered around 38. Fingers crossed for both of us! My paperwork will be turned in sometime in early June. eyeononederland 27 Posted May 17, 2012 I have Aetna and my husband was approved without any fuss two years ago, but he had a much higher BMI than I do along with sleep apnea and high blood pressure. Give them a call! Couldn't hurt, right?
rascodr 2 Posted May 18, 2012 I have sleep apnea diabetes high blood pressure high chloresteral ostreoarthtitis my BMI 39.6 but Im still worried about insurance approval I cant afford it otherwise so the insurance company approval is neccessary for me to even start I don't want to pre-worry but its hard not too DeAna
Tomander 614 Posted May 18, 2012 I live in Canada and I paid for my lapband. I have no regrets at all spending the money... it was worth every penny. The lapband saved my life. Yes it would have been nice if insurance would have covered it but I'm thankful I had the money. Good luck... take it one day at a time. Please feel free to ask me any questions. rascodr 2 Posted May 18, 2012 I think if my insurance doesn't cover me I might pull the funds from my 401k I really need to get it done and my health is not a bad investment so I actually think I have a plan B DeAna
