Anyone else sick of food?

Recommended Posts

I loved hot chips and gravy. This is a huge favourite in most cafes in Australia.I can now say I no longer fight for my share of chips. One chip and a dip of gravy and Iam over them....boring.I too just can't be bothered with food and sometimes find it a real chore just to feed my family.Saying that they all eat better than ever befor as I cook what is good for them not what I like to eat.

You are not alone food can be over rated....more so when you never feel hungry.

hi this is my first post to the thread. i am not banded, but look at you all as an inspiration.

I wanted to say, that my biggest desire would be not to love food so much. The ultimate goal I would be imagine is to not have that same crazy relationship with food, as one does before getting banded. If I could only make food that I was crazy about.. like salmon, and potatoes, I would be much happier. Now, everything is cake, tacobell..cake.cake and donuts.

Funny-

I was thinking about starting a similiar post....I was just telling someone the other day that I actually HATE food. I used to love it....loved the way it smelled, loved the way it tasted, loved the full feeling it gave me, loved the way it made me feel in general. I can honestly say now that I HATE IT!! It doesn't smell good anymore, doesn't taste like anything anymore, and definitely does not make me feel good. After a 5-6 bites, I hate the full, sometimes painful feeling I get now.

Now don't get me wrong, my mind still says to me "Doesn't a filet mignon, or a slice of chocolate cake sound good right now." I can taste/eat most anything, but I just don't get hardly any satisfaction of any kind out of it anymore. I guess that's the whole point of the band. However, I have to say that even after nearly 8 months with the band, it is still psychologically very disappointing to NOT be comforted/fulfilled by my desperate cravings. I'm not sure that the psychological elements and/or the thoughts of overeating will ever go away. But the physicial desire to continue eating more and more to keep my old 'high' going is definitely gone, and has been for a long time. I miss the feeling of euphoria I used to get by binging on my whimsical cravings, but I don't miss the way I used to feel 114 pounds ago:D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
