cashley 0 Posted March 3, 2006 I wish I liked them. I wish I could doctor them up. Basically I hate them. I know I need them... I try real hard to force them down but that only works so long. I think I'm going to buy some vegetables tablets or one of those nasty veggie green drinks. Life would be better if junk food was healthy! (I'm venting now - I know it's a stupid subject I just wanted to vent some)
J Huff 1 Posted March 3, 2006 I found these green pills at the Heath food Store and they have like 6 servings of green vegetables per pill. They have a certification inside the bottle and it sounds really good. I know I don't get enough of these in my diet and I was worried about that and Protein. I bought some Protein powder too (whey, as it is absorbed alot better than soy). So now I think I am covered. Anyone else try these? (I know it's always better to eat the actual vegetable, but if that's not possible, these seem like a good idea). PS: The pills are kinda big, so I take them later on in the day when I can get them through the band, and cut them in half.
Tricia K. 0 Posted March 3, 2006 Have you tried V-8 Splash? I can't stand regular V-8 juice but this stuff is yummy.
cashley 0 Posted March 3, 2006 I'm going to have to try the V-8 Splash. I didn't realize it still had veggies in it. For some reason I thoght it was just fruit juice. I'll be picking up some tonight. As far as the little green pills... my hubby bought me some once. And I burped them up. I should try them again since I'm so bad about veggies and I want to be healthy. I tried a green drink once too - nasty!!! I think I'll shoot for the V-8 Splash that's the best idea so far. I may even like V-8 Spicy but have been skeered to try it. I do like salsa and someone told me it tasted like that.
Guest ASPHALT ANGEL Posted March 3, 2006 try melting cheese(i like velveeta) over your vegetables. I stir fry alot of my mixed vegetables in a little olive oil and add all kinds of seasoning to them. I have put cheese on every vegetable out there and it works for me, but I like vegies but I get tired of the same old boring thing so I mix it up with spices and cheese. I do the v8 splash for my kids...they love it.
DeLarla 22 Posted March 3, 2006 Girl, you gotta get your veggies in! There are ways to hide them. For example, make a meatloaf and bake carrots right in, or make healthy Soups and cut the veggies really small. Cube them pea size and toss them in cottage cheese or over other foods. Start slow. Soon you'll be snacking on raw spinach with me. I guess I got lucky cause I love tons of raw stuff.

Jill_S 1 Posted March 4, 2006 I am not a fan of veggies either. Green Beans and cooked carrots is about all I can manage. I don't even like salad, and I know I'm in a small percentage with that. I just take my Vitamins and eat relatively healthy. I'm not going to force something down that doesn't taste good.
cashley 0 Posted March 4, 2006 I'm glad I'm not the only one. The meatloaf idea is a good idea. I ate some raw carrots tonight (which I don't hate) but I like better if I had some dip. I'm not filled yet so I'm counting weight watchers points so I don't eat too much. The carrots were free but I didn't have any points left for dip. Weight watchers trys to get you to eat 5 servings a day. I have a hard time getting in one. Today was carrots - yesterday I reluctantly ate green Beans. NJChick 3 Posted March 4, 2006 Do you eat fruits? I would be worried about not getting enough Fiber in your diet. You might want to look into Fiber drinks, this might be the way to go until you can aquire a taste for the real thing. Check out your local GNC or Health food Store and see what they say about a fiber supplement. Make sure your taking your daily Vitamins Good luck. BTW, I never liked veggies until I was in my 20's. I started eating them mixed in w/my food so I couldn't taste them. They had to have sauce or butter on them or forgedaboudit lol, now I LOVE them, plain even :biggrin1:
gentlespirit 1 Posted March 8, 2006 What about using Ragu's Double Cheddar sauce with them? It makes a great Soup, and I can even eat the cooked carrots I truly hate that way. Emily
islandmom 0 Posted March 8, 2006 I am not a big fan of veggies, either. Sorry to say, I am glad there are others out there like me. I feel just the same about them as Cashley. I was just banded on 3/3 and the veggie issue is one of main concerns. I am going to try my best. You know they say your taste buds change every several years. Maybe there is hope for me! Stay strong!
banded_for_life 2 Posted March 9, 2006 You might try some veggies you never tried before....like spaghetti squash...that is awesome with Pasta Sauce over it...my kids love that. buy the frozen chopped onion/green&red bell pepper and saute and stick in an egg omelet with some cheese over it...yum! Iziksmom 0 Posted March 11, 2006 I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates vegetables. I won't eat anything in a salad. Most people think I'm nuts. I will have to look into the "veggie pill". Do you still really get enough of the nutrient value even if you do shred it up and put it in a meatloaf or other food item? I would be willing to try that. I know I need to...especially since my 9 year won't eat salads either. I haven't set a very healthy example for him at this point. Thanks for sharing the tips on here...
