Post Op Diet Week 2

Recommended Posts

Hi

How are all of your springers?? I am 1 week 1 day banded and plicationed... =)

I have been doing my best to be on the liquids. Ice pops, Soups, protien shakes, but the other night I lost it and had about 2 to 3 oz of chicken, I chewed it well I felt a little crappy after but I couldnt help it, I was starving. (This is what the ment by the emotional breakdowns?? HUMMM) And today, I had it somewhat again. I had 1/2 of a meatball crumbed into small pieces. The place where I got it didnt have a blender and couldnt blend it, So I smooshed it the best I could and chewed it with sauce. I am just wondering how harmful this is. I am on my 2nd week.

Any help would be great.

Protien shake for dinner tonight!

can you make up some really tasty Soup for yourself? i did, i used pumpkin as a base, added some mild salsa, Tomato paste, some soy sauce, onions, and put beef broth in as the liquid. It was so good. Im still doing it in fact, its winter here and soup is on the go. I found that what i was lacking in substance i could make up for with taste, and it helped me a lot. I hope you come up with something that satisfies you more. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
