I was told and have experienced that you can get air (burp) traped in the bottom part of your bigger stomach and it can be hard to get it out. I have drank sips of a soda and found this to be true. It was pretty uncomfortable. I have also tried to drink beer and its not as bad but I do burp a lot. That is the only reason my dr. told me and I have found that the sodas are just not worth it. A beer somtimes is worth pretty much anything lol.

The last time I ever even attempted to drink something carbonated was last summer, took three sips of my husbands Diet Coke. Less than five or ten minutes later I had pain for about a half hour in my upper chest and neck area, I knew it was from the air bubbles it created. NEVER again. That was the first carbonation I had since my surgery and was my last.

Just remember beer has calories. I try to only have them when they are planned because they can add up. This weekend we are going to be at the lake camping and it is Mothers day so I am sure I will have a few but I will try not to have any for a couple of weeks after.

I rarely drink soda or beer, but I have had both. I makes me feel full or kind of gassy. I have heard and read so many different opinions and thoughts on this subject I really don't know what to think. I miss beer too!!!!! Especially when we are camping on the weekends.

I was told by my Dr. no carbonated beverages. Now she seems to think once in a while is ok. I think it is a unhealthy habit and wasted calories, so they really push that it is not allowed.

Like I say, I'm not sure what to think about it.

I must admit I had my fair share of Guinness the week before surgery...it was a very sad breakup but we both went our separate ways.

The carbination is the cause of possible pouch dilation and gas pain. The soda itself, can be a source of extra calories and sugar that are counter productive for weigh loss. My MD said that with Beer and other adult beverages, that because we don't have as much food in our stomachs to absorb the alcohol, that it can result in becoming intoxicated much more quickly and also the calorie factor again. My MD said just to be careful with any alcohol and listen to my body signs and that carbinated beverages are ok in small amounts once in a while, but the flatter the better.

Yep, my Doc said that I should let drinks like that go flat before I drink them if I am really craving them but I really don't anymore. Just once in awhile I really miss a big old glass of fizzy ginger ale, that was my favorite drink before I was banded. But I am happy with lots of Water, lemonade, iced tea,

and other non carbonated things. I was curious last summer if I would still like the Coke. I did still like it taste wise, but totally not worth the pain after.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
