erin313 44 Posted May 11, 2012 That is a great question! I would like to know what I need too. I have done everything that my insurance has asked for and am now just waiting on an approval. Once I get that they tell me it will about 2 weeks before my surgery date. I do have to be on a 2 week liquid diet. I figure the better prepared I am the easier everything will go. Tricia39 22 Posted May 11, 2012 The full liquid diet sounds easy but it isn't. Getting ready for diarrhea at it's best. Day 4 and no appetite at all. ****DIVALICIOUS****
KEMULLINS 3 Posted May 11, 2012 Day 3 liquid diet and occassional hunger but nothing serious. I think it is more from habit. Before this I had a very set regiment that I ate on as I am a borderline diabetic. So in order to control my levels I became very boring and ate all my meals and Snacks at the same time. Now as far as the dumping goes.... yes be ready. It does clean you out.
runnyf 8 Posted May 11, 2012 Bel12- I would make sure that you find a couple of good Protein Shake options that you actually like. Also, make sure that you have stuff that you are allowed to eat, and try to rid your house of the things you can't. I have a DH, that didn't like that idea, but I changed it up. For example, he still wanted chips around, so I got a flavor of chip that he liked and I hate. Same with things like Ice Cream, and other trigger foods. I also made sure I had either bottled Water, or a watter bottle to keep up with my water intake for the day. For the ride home, make sure you have a pillow so you can put that between the seat belt and your stomach. I would also make sure you have your prescriptions for post op filled before you even go to have your surgery so you don't have to wait for them when you get home or make an additional stop to pick them up. Gas X strips are a must, and be prepared to walk when you get home because that it really the only thing that helps with the gas pressure and pain. Stock up on liquid items that you can have, which is probably going to be pretty limited if your pre-op and post-op diet restrictions are like most.
