So it is almost Day 12. I wasn't suppose to eat mushies until day 14. However, I was literally gagging when I had to have another Soup, pudding, Jello, etc.

So, I had something yesterday. Now, I know I probably shouldn't have started with this but I had some Wendy's chili and a plain baked potato with a smidge of butter. I got in about 6 small tsp. of the chili and about 5 bites of potatoes. I felt fulll and stopped. I began to feel human again,........not so tired and listless. However, about an hour afterwards, I felt super full and it was like a heavy bomb in my stomach and throat. I don't recall anyone describing a stuck episode that way. But I felt so sick last night. I chewed a mango/papaya pill which maybe helped a little and went to bed. I still felt bad when I woke up but the more I walked and was up the better I felt. So I tried about 8 small tsp. of egg saladat lunch today. Felt okay at first but then about 30 minutes later....I had the same feeling along with nausea like it was going to come back up but I couldn't burp.

Since we have all been on a liquid diet for 1 month and our stomachs are not use to the band yet....is this what I have to go through to get to feeling fine with foods? I don't want this to happen everytime I eat, I am really hesitant to eat now AND I haven't even had my first fill yet!

Has anyone else gone through this and if so, how long long does it last? Any other mushy foods that anyone can suggest that may be more friendly tomy stomach?

PS....sorry to be TMI but it doesn't help that I have gone to the bathroom once in the 11 days since surgery.

I't's always a good idea to let your doctor know what is happening with you, though in this scenario I understand why you would not want to...Are you chewing your food at least 20 times a bite? Are you eating very slowly? Both of these practices need to be followed religiously as you begin to eat mushies.

Another potential issue is that you are having too much at your meal...are you measuring your food for each meal? I am allowed only 3 oz of Protein and 2 oz of carbs for every meal, and each meal takes 20 minutes to eat. When you measure that out by volume, it isn't very much!

For the second 2 weeks after being banded, I pureed everything...even my egg salad went in the blender. It might help your Constipation to incorporate some fruit into your diet. I really loved pureed fresh strawberries or cantaloupe at that stage.

Constipation seems to be an ongoing issue, especially for me as I can no longer have the Fiber my system was accustomed to. Making certain to have all of your free fluids will help with staying hydrated and should help the constipation also. I will take a stool softener if I have not gone in 2 days. That seems to help stave off constipation for me.

Hope you feel better fast...but get in touch with your surgeon if you are not feeling better within a couple of days.

well i think that you needed to wait that time out before trying anything more solid. What i did... i mixed baked potatoes etc in with my mushies and while no one else would eat it, i made sure it was sloppy enough and ate it. I had the taste which was most important for me. YOu need to take it very slowly. Im six weeks out from surgery now and i still have a lot of Soups. i put lots of yummy things in it but its still a very staple part of my diet. I had a fill yesterday, 1st one, and today im on Soups. im having clear beef brother every three hours... just a half cup.

I think that you have pushed yourself too soon. My body would never have allowed me to do that. AS it was i had more than one experience with food getting into difficulties , and i learned from that. It is a really hard time that you go through and its not called ''band hell' for nothing... but, believe me, it will pass quickly enough. You need to give your body time to heal properly. Obviously its not ready for what you have had to eat .... so back off the solids and go back onto mushies . If its too bland try mixing some salsa, garlic powder etc into it. that may help your taste buds a bit. i hope you do well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
