I am going in Monday for a post op visit. Not for a fill..I am just wondering if I can go without one for a long period of time...that is, I am three weeks post op...he said that he did not fill the band at all...I still feel restriction...I ate tonight some pasta(angel hair) had less then a cup...and I am now having chest and back spasms....

Pasta is one food I was told not to eat. It swells in your little pouch, that & rice. I personally ill stay away from the paste and rice. I love both but will get used to not eating it, I don't want those nast gas pains.

Oh yeah, tastes do change. I'm craving seafood, salmon, orange roughy. I always liked those foods but now I really want them. And for me, they're in between sliders and stuck foods. So, they fill me without a lot of discomfort and satisfy too.

I'm sorry but I've never had the back problem but I can see how you could get some kind of referred pain if your band is too tight, or you didn't chew or took large bites? I'd try a slider food like oatmeal or tuna salad. Small bites and chew. See if that still gets stuck to see if you're too tight. Try to work your way up to solids and don't be surprised if some of your favs don't make the cut. I just finished lunch and heated up a leftover filet mignon for the 3rd time and still couldn't finish it. Sad, no more steak for a while.

OMG ...filrt mingon...favorite of mine have not even tried that since surgery!

doc did say chicken can be "dry"..he said try fish, as it is for the most part moisturer food....I have placed the chicken in Soups and gotten the Protein that way...seems to work as not getting stuck..

Got plenty of "sliderfood"

My surgeon tries to get his patients to lose as much weight as possible with a minimal amount of fills towards the beginning..and when weight loss begins to slow more when you're closer to your goal weight he will give you fills more frequently to give it a little push. He told me if I feel as tho I do not need a feel and he and I are happy with the rate of weight loss I can opt to skip the fill at that time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
