psea 0 Posted May 9, 2012 I had my Lapband Surgery in March 2010. Before surgery I was at 265 pounds. So far I've losted 70 pounds. It has been a journey. My goal weight is to lose an additional 30 pounds. In January 2012 I had a Tummy Tuck which was very successful. When I went to my Bariatric Surgeon after the Tummy Tuck to see if everything was still okay with my Lapband and to see if I could get a fill. Also when I would eat or drink anything it would feel like I shouldn't eat or drink anything because it would be so heavy like a ton of bricks that I would be carry inside of my belly. I complained to him about that. He just looked at my tummy and said everything looks okay and since you have lost weight I won't do a fill. However after the Tummy Tuck and the 70 pound weight loss the lapband had began to feel uncomfortable in the position of my tummy. After going to another Bariatric Surgeon in my area for a fill since it had been a year from the last fill. The doctor was unable to do the fill. He discovered that the port had flipped he stated that I would need to have the port moved from by my navel and moved to the right/left side. It has been a couple of days since the port has been moved and emptied. I return back to him on next week so we shall see if I will feel better with the port being in another location. I felt like the original surgeon should have checked it when I went to him after the Tummy Tuck surgery.Has anyone else experienced what I have experienced. Jean McMillan 2,973 Posted May 9, 2012 I haven't experienced that...your story is unique...but I do want to congratulate you for your weight loss and your persistence. I have had a port flip and repaired, as you have. That's not uncommon. I'm not clear on what happened when you went to your original surgeon for a fill after your Tummy Tuck. If he felt that you didn't need a fill and didn't give you a fill, why would you expect him to palpate your abdomen to check the position of your port? psea 0 Posted May 9, 2012 My reason for going to the Original doctor that did the Lapband was to make sure everything was still okay and in place when it really wasn't. So I'm glad I did get a second opinion on it.
NWgirl 574 Posted May 9, 2012 Unless the original surgeon stuck a needle in your port, there would be no way of knowing if it had flipped or not if it was still in the same spot he placed it.
