I was banded on 4/23 & so far I've done pretty good following post op diet. Yes I did sneak in a few soft foods during my full liquids phase, but for the most part I've respected my band. Since my band I haven't eaten out except for some Soup at Jason's Deli one time. Well I'm about to face my biggest challenge this coming weekend. With it being Mother's Day weekend we have alot of outings planned. In my family, we Celebrate with food. I am determined to stick to my 4 oz rule given by my doctor. I've already checked out the menus of the restaurants we'll be going to & know what I will order. The only one in my extended family that knows about my surgery is my mother. I chose not to tell anyone else bc I feel that when others know you're attempting weight loss they tend to "watch" everything you place in your mouth. Let's hope I can get through this weekend without looking suspicious or overeating! I have no fill right now so this is going to be all willpower!

When I'm eating with people I don't want to know about the band, I go with stuff I know will go down easy, like Soup, and make excuses about not being hungry. There's nothing like getting "stuck" when you're with people that don't know you've been banded -- I speak from experience!!

Toddy,

I went to lunch with a rep and ordered soft fish tacos. Thought I could avoid the "stuck episodes" but oh was I wrong. 2-3 bites into the meal I got a bad stuck episode. Took about 15 minutes to pass. Bites too big and too often I suppose. Anyway, the rep was so worried because I was sweating, could barely talk. I confessed to her what I had done. She was very interested in the procedure and we never talked business, just bariatric surgery from that point on.

BTW-I excused myself during this episode to the bathroom where I eliminated the slime which usually speeds up the process.

I'm rather extroverted and I told everyone. The UPS guy came to the door and I raised my shirt and exclaimed, "look what I did". I'd like to have some of those moments back.LOL I now regret telling everyone. There are several people who have been preaching to me how I should lose weight now. Of course, these are people who are either real skinny and always have been or they're overweight and are prescribing the latest herbalife, amway, Vitamin cottage type remedies. Be selective in who you tell.

Start day off with "im not feeling well." that sets the stage. Then at dinner say this looks amazing. In just not as hungry as I thought I was. May I will try the (whatever) and see how I feel. Then have your serving and start picking with fork. Say delicious but feeling iffy and going to stop. Darn it. Hare when I feel that way. But everyone understands and no one really wants details,. Particularly if you rub intestinal area. LOL

Well my family is use to me dieting, so I figure I will play it off as another fad diet I'm on. I don't have any fill yet, so getting stuck isn't too big of concern. Now I just have to worry about all the tempting food!!

I dont have a fill yet, but still have had 1 really bad stuck episode. Last weekend I had to go to my brother-n-laws birthday, so I drank a Protein Shake on the way. While everyone else was stuffing there fat faces, I was taking the kids to see the new colt. I had a very small amount of mashed potato's (on mushies) and for desert I had some banana pudding. I didn't feel like I was missing out nor was I hungry. I have to admit. The chicken looked awesome.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
