Someone else asked the same question last night. Here was my response:

"No pain. Over in a few seconds. I think the only downside is my doc has us go back on liquids for 2 days, puree for 2 days and then back to solids. For me, I'm so curious to see if I get any new restriction I find it real hard to stay on that diet. Waiting 4 days to see if my fill moves me closer to the green zone is agonizing. I'm on fill 5 and going in Friday for #6. I'm getting good restriction now and just need a tweak to get me to the Holy Grail Green Zone.

It's all about satiety, not restriction. Read Jean McMillan in the magazine articles. Very good author."

I am in the same situation; 2.5 months post op, and still waiting for my first fill. The fill had to be postponed due to medical complications.

I am getting very hungry between meals, usually about 3 hours after eating. I find that drinking the free fluids (for me mostly water) and distracting myself with something physical to do (exercise, cleaning out drawers. etc.) helps. I can usually wait 4 hours between meals if I am mindful to use the tools!

I don't advocate eating anything extra which is not on the list of allowable foods or in the quantity allowed. If you are seriously hungry, and feel you have to have something, go for a small amount of lean lean Protein or a Protein shake. Protein takes the longest to digest and alleviates hunger for longer.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
