Magic 0 Posted March 2, 2006 have a long story so please be patinet with me.. I only got my band 1 week ago... When I first got the band I used to consume very little Soup or other beverage and feel very fulfilled, with a nice sensation in the top of my stomach telling me to stop. However, in the past few days I’ve been feeling a very little restriction from the band, or almost non. I’m afraid I had slipped my band, or if it shifted a little down, thus, expanding the size of the pouch on top (casue I vomited and will tell you more about that below). My question is feeling a little or no restriction a sign of a band slippage or anything bad? or it could be juts that I healed up well after the operation?. Right after the operation the most I could get down was a small bowl of soup, so today I decided to run a test on my stomach during the dinner time. I ate 2 small bowls of soup, I drank 2 glasses of Water, each one of these glasses in one gulp or shot, and few slices of smoked salmon. Yet, I felt VERY little restriction and I would’ve been able to go for a little more if I wanted. <O:p</O:p I just feel afraid that I might have either slipped or mis-located my band or my port and that cuase once I vomitted real hard after taking some horrible meds. Question is What are the symptoms of having the band slipped, mis-located or shifted down... and what I have (the fact I can eat a lot) means I have something bad, keep in mind that I feel golden and nothing hurts inside me.. Thanks a lot, and sorry for the long long post..
SherryW 4 Posted March 2, 2006 Magic....if you were banded on 2/22/o6 it is possible the swelling of your stomach went down so you don't have as much restriction. Best thing to do is call your physician and let them know you vomited and that you're restriction has gone away. They'll be the best to give you advice. NewSho 20 Posted March 3, 2006 Well, I must say in my experience I'm not a big fan of 'testing the band' to see how much you could eat. But with that said, it doesn't sound like band slippage really it sounds more like your body reacting to having had a major operation 7 days ago. Call your doctors office, let them know what you've experienced and follow their advice. It honestly doesn't sound that unusual. Check with them and then let us know. Magic 0 Posted March 3, 2006 Sherry and New.. Thanks a lot for your comforting words, I guess you are totally right, that all what is happening with me is that the swelling of the op is going down, and I'm healing really well.. I called my doc. office today but he wasn't there, so I explained everything to his assistant and she assured me that everything is golden with me, and these are no signs of slippage or anything bad whatsoever. Actually these are signs of good healing, and my body is accepting the band nicely... Thanks a lot guys, and YOU ARE THE BEST
SherryW 4 Posted March 4, 2006 you are very welcome. Now if someone can give me a quick fix for this pain under my left ribs I"d be in heaven lol. Sneezed way too much today and it's super sore as if I'm back to square one UGH. I know it will get better but, wowza does it hurt right now. Kinda like someone reached in and pulled..hmm wait they did that a few weeks ago heh heh.
La_madam 20 Posted March 4, 2006 My question is feeling a little or no restriction a sign of a band slippage or anything bad? or it could be juts that I healed up well after the operation?. You healed up nicely from surgery..restriction comes from fills and you have no fill so it is quite normal to not feel any restriction. Not to worry, it is normal to be hungrier as you get father post op. Once you get your fills things will change.
freebit 0 Posted March 8, 2006 I have found that the stomach can swell and change shape so much that using restriction as a guide for slippage doesnt work well. I have been so tight I can not get Soup down then the next day I wasnt tight and ate like a pig then I was tight the day after, etc. However, if you cannott get Water down at all to the point where you are dehydrated you may want to go in and have them look at you under a flouroscope.
