I Think I'm In Bandster Hell :/

Recommended Posts

I'm about 4 and a half months post op and down around 50 pounds.. I was pretty happy with the weight loss I was having.. Up until my last visit.. I only lost .9 pounds in 5 weeks. But, I know why.. I can eat as much as I want of whatever I want.. UGH. I know I shouldn't, but I just get hungry.. And eat. Too much. Of stuff I shouldn't have. So mad at myself right now... I have to go back Monday and I'm so scared of going and have gained weight. I will definitely be asking for a fill though. :(

Weight has been a battle for me my whole life. 50 pounds is awesome. Just hop back on track. The problem is I love to eat and I know food will always be a struggle even with the band. It's a tool, get back to using it.

Are you weighing your Protein? I am at restriction but still measure. Digital food scales are available at Walmart etc.

I try to live by the rule if I would be embarassed for my doctor to see my buying/eating a food It does'nt get eaten.

Oh you have to eat sensible and try to eat healthy. Believe me if I can do it anyone can. I am not even banded yet and started my health kick a month ago just so I would be prepared. I know its hard, but think of the skinny aspect of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nine pounds in five weeks is pretty danged good! While I understand being worried/embarrassed to see your dr if you have a slow loss or even a gain, just remember that they have seen it all before. He/She shouldn't get angry with you but should be supportive of you getting back on track. If they do get angry, just tell them that you feel bad enough that you are struggling, now, what can they do to help you, because that is why you are there.

Good luck.

LOL...Hey Tracey, she said .9 lbs. Less than 1 lb. No worries, sometimes I think the dots on my screen are periods but they're just dirt.

Sounds like a fill is in order. I was in bandster hell from early December to late March. It's awful. It's like never having had the surgery and we're back to the old days and dieting. I've got some restriction now and I've lost 12 lbs since my late March fill so I'm feeling good now.

Just remember we didn't get the surgery because we made good choices and that won't be fixed over night. If you go in and you have gained just be mature and say I know what I did and I have to get back on track. This is what they do for a living. They won't get mad at you. Don't put so much pressure on yourself or you will fall even further the wrong direction. We all struggle..... hang in there.

Fill sounds good. My PA told me today that as you lose weight you lose fat around stomach and so band loosens up, hence the need to report for monthly fills.

Are you using my fitness pal? It has helped me through last 10 pounds. It is now a battle for me, even with band. And I think it is only natural for us to struggle. But the band brings me hope and a little extra strength to power through those times. But don't get me wrong, I had a major meltdown last week and gorged myself on 2100 calories in one day.

Great job on your loss so far. Best wishes for happy losing soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
