weightoffme 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Good morning. I am new to this forum. I am looking for a mentor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It' s been almost 1yr, date of surgery June 13, 2011, since I had my lapband surgery. I am ashamed to say I have only lost 21lbs. The most weight I lost was before surgery. It has been slow coming off since. I workout, I am doing 3 Protein Drinks a day, 25grams of Protein each serving. But my weight is NOT coming off and I am really disappointed. A part of me is thinking I should have done gastric. I am not looking for anything quick.. I knew this would not be, but I did expect to have lost more than 20lbs. One of my cousins was banded after in, November to be exact she's lost over 50lbs. already.. HELP!!!! Thanks I want this "weightoff me"
Jean McMillan 2,973 Posted May 8, 2012 I'm sorry to hear you're struggling, but it's good that you're not giving up and that you're looking for help. You might want to post your question in the Texas group: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forum/2025-texas/ Also, I have a friend (who revised from the band to the bypass earlier this year) who is a support group leader in the Austin area. She used to live in Dallas so might be able to suggest how to hook up with someone in your area. Let me now if you'd like her contact info. I'm sure there are dozens of things going on with you and your disappointing weight loss, but one of the first things that strikes me is your Protein drinks. Why are you doing 3 Protein Drinks a day? Because you can't eat solid food? If so, your band is too tight and you need some saline taken out of it. If not, you really should be getting your Protein from solid food. liquids may fill your nutritional needs but they do not provide any satiety. Finally, please stop comparing yourself to others (like your cousin). That does you no good unless you use it for inspiration instead of to berate yourself. weightoffme 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Good morning and thanks very much for replying. I am on solid foods, along w/the 3 Proteins drinks a day. I start my morning with an 8oz Protein shake. For Breakfast I have 1 cup of Cereal w/2% milk (honeynut cherrios mixed w/fiber one). snack 1 medium apple (if I can eat the whole thing). Before lunch I have another Protein Shake. And lunch is a cup of Soup, usually Mex.Tortilla, chicken Gumbo or tuna w/6 whole wheat cracker. When I get home from work I have another Protein Shake. And dinner varies. I am watching carbs, and am eating on a child's plate so I don't overeat..Since I now have 7cc's in, I do feel restriction. I am wondering if the Protein I drink has anything to do b/c I also excercise 3-4xs a day for 45mins. Thanks again, weightoff me

Thanks again, weightoff me Some protein drinks are actually formulated to make you GAIN weight (like bodybuilders do). How many calories are in one of those protein drinks? Do you enjoy drinking them? Do they keep you satisfied for 4 or so hours? Are 3 protein drinks a day what your surgeon or nutritionist recommended?
