Recommended Posts

Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding brands of underwear and undershirts that effectively absorb sweat in order to avoid skin irritation/discomfort?

Ok, I just bought a couple compression shirts and shorts that are like underwear from under armor.I have never tried this type before.I am absolutely sold on these. Worth every cent. I bought them for a graduation in AZ last week.it was 95 degrees. These things keep you very cool and are comfortable. No sweating through your clothes or heat rash from a day of walking in the heat. Do not be fooled by the appearance of the size. I bet I am bigger then most on here but I fit into a 2x pretty well. They look super small. But you cram into them and man they are great. Happy shopping.

I use the UA Heatgear compression shirts and love them. I am a remodeling contractor who lives in the desert, and sweating is part of my daily life but these shirts really help keep me cooler. Add in the fact that we are all big guys and you can see I know what I'm talking about. I have been buying mine on EBay and have been saving about 50% from what they cost retail. As I have been losing the weight, this has saved me a lot of money each time a shirt has become too big for me and I have had to buy a smaller size.

Wal-Mart “Dri-Star” they have sizes that fit bigger guys, about half the cost of Under Armor.. I would like Under Armor but they mostly like skinny people. The Wal-Mart brand is good for now and It works great for me.

If you have a Academy store near you their store brand shirts are good too.

I also shop eBay for UA shirts.

Like many others have said, Under Armor (and similar products) are awesome. I have completely converted my underwear and undershirt, for workouts and work/life.

The underwear is the most comfortable ever, and the shirts are awesome, and help a lot with sagging/loose skin, if you are dealing with that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
