Hcg Diet For Any Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

I did before the band. I used the drops and lost about 1 pound a day. The diet was very restrictive at 500 calories a day. I lost about 40 pounds but once I was able to eat regular food...I gained it back and then some. i have a friend at work that did the HCG shots at a doctor's office...she lost about 12 pounds and then gave up...

I tried to do it without the drops and had the same results...but always gained my weight back. That's why I needed a diet that i just couldn't quit (e.g. the Lapband). I liken the HCG drops to Dumbo with the white feather. He thought he could fly only with the feather...but realized the feather had nothing to do with it...but it is psychological...anyhow that's how I felt about it. Just my opinion.

You lose weight with hcg purely from the 500 calorie diet restriction, which is extremely unhealthy. It is a total scam.

Ive been totally thinkin about those hcg drops and want to try it but been kinda iffy if its okay to do those types if diet with the band. Although i count calories i still eat whatever i want except for soda, cakes, and breads as they tend to get stuck. I would love to hear if anyone has tried the hcg diet and see how it has worked for them!

I worked in a Diet Clinic for a couple of years and we sold the HCG drops/shots/pellets. The doctor I worked for didn't like to put people on them, but had them because several people wanted them. The true hcg can not be purchased in the super market or drug store.

I personally tried the hcg shots along with B12 injections. I took a hcg shot everyday and a b12 shot every other day. I lost alot of weight very fast and my hair grew really thick and long fast, but as soon as I stopped taking the hcg, all that extra hair fell out and I gained the weight back fast.

I do support the Lipotronic injections, they are awesome. You will lose weight, but not to fast and because it is loaded with B Vitamins you feel really good and energized.

Be careful of the hcg!!

I to did HCG pre-op and lost 45 pounds! Then I got prego and gained all that weight back within like 3 months and just kept gaining. My OB had me on a very restrictive diet to try and slow my weight gain but nothing worked. I ended up 20 pounds heavier than I was before I started HCG after I had the baby. You lose the weight but gain it right back. My hubby did it too with the same results. Lost 50 and gained 60! And my friend who introduced us in on the HCG roller coaster. She's loses 20 gains it back and then goes right back on it.

I'm 6yrs banded and had stalled. Quite frankly fallen into some bad habits, soft, sweet, easy to eat- bad foods-- as I found out once I started HCG (injectable) thru my bariatric doctor. I decided I wanted and was ready to loose my last 15-20#. I needed the rapid start of HCG. Been on 3 weeks now and have lost 12# ! HARD 12# even with a band i had to use adipex- - i am stariving some days!!! I am not able to eat the entire amount of food at the 30 minute- - -i stretch it out over and hour or two- - not optimal. I feel great and Im glad i pushed myself to do this. It has highlighted the bad habits of easy comfort foods. The habits of lazy eating , high fat even in small quantity that were preventing me from losing the rest of my excess weight. After all I was fat and now I am thinner- - I couldnt see I wasnt where I wanted to be for looking how far I had come and how easy it was to keep eating the comfort foods in small quantities. Veggies- especially raw- are hard for my band, dry non sauced foods have been hard for me so to compensate I used sauces, dressings, and other high fat food additives to make them band friendly- - compromising my overall goals. I will be following this thread to see what others have done as I am determined to do this.

Since I did the majority of weight loss with my band, the last with extreme restrictive and injectable HCG- - Im hoping thru awareness of my bad eating habits I can and will keep it off. There is no magic-- it a daily fight!! If it were easy to be thin - - - everyone would be!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
