Pot Use And The Lapband

Recommended Posts

Haha I LOVE this thread!! I personally don't smoke weed but I do smoke cigarettes, I feel kind of bad because I went thru all the work to get banded (which is suppose to be life changing) but here I am still smoking... Quitting smoking is hard enough and then to throw losing weight into the equation... Talk about impossible (for me anyway)... I say do what you want, as long as you keep your long term goal in mind, there is nothing wrong with picking back up on a few old habits (sporadically).

I think it's pretty sad when smoking is one of the most enjoyable parts of a persons life. I can think of way more things to do that would be far more enjoyable but I suppose it is a case of each to their own.

It's not sad that we find this enjoyable. I'm sure you did or used to enjoy a cup of coffee every morning. It's the same thing. It's not like we're throwing back a handle of vodka! Idk about you guys but when I smoke I just relax I don't even get HIGH (all that giggly stuff) anymore. HippiekyYAY!

Actually it is not the same as enjoying a cup of coffee. As far as I am aware coffee is legal, unless the dope has been medically prescribed it isn't.

But I did say each to their own and if that is what makes you happy then go for it.

I see your toke and raise you a "rave". Im a raver, casual 420 smoker and Ive had no issues. Its all good in moderation. Take things slow see how your body reacts to anything and make your own decision is what I say.

Ive actually noticed that I have less blockage after I smoke and have the munchies...food just glides in. So, I prepare before hand some food where I wont feel guilty after and if I do eat something that is terrible but terribly good Ill just put a workout before or after to "ease" the guilt.

I know my daughter smokes weed occasionally and she is getting banded next month. I was afraid to ask her if she asked the doc about that. I feel better reading that you girls have dealt with this. How do you handle social situations like drinking at a bar or not havig a drink with dinner

God, some people here are so judgmental. Weed has actually been decriminalized in many states. and just bc something is illegal doesn't make it morally wrong. you need to look at the historic reasons weed was banned while alcohol was not.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
