ok so i dont have a fill and i was banded about 2 months ago...and i have been fine for the past 2 months with eating...somethings are hard to tollerate others not so much but all in all ive been doing ok....

i recently had a surgery (a week ago) to remove a cyst from my ovary and i have been at home recovering ever since. I havent had any problems with eating until yesterday... i ate something pretty tough for Breakfast and then had troubles the rest of the day. finall at dinner i had a horrible pb and threw up. I dunno if it was the food i was choosing to eat or if something is wrong. Now it seems like everything i eat aside from cottage cheese and yogart is bothering me. granted its only been one day...but how do i know if something is wrong??? what are some of the signs? im totallllly freaking. i did a search on slippage and now im bugged out!!!!!!!!

can someone please tell me what i should be looking for if it were a slip... or maybe some other things it coupld be so i dont totally freak myself out! im very upset and trying not to read into anything but i just dont know. Do bands get tighter at certian times of the month? or for different reasons...it just seems strange to me that this would happen all of a sudden...

(( HUGS!!! ))

You're post-op, so expect some general swelling (they pump you full of fluids & stuff for surgery).

And after a PB, it's common to swell.

I'd go to liquids for at least 24 hours, maybe even 48. Then slowly add mushies back in & wait a couple more days for solids. Take it slowly & let the swelling go down & learn any new adjustments you might need to make to your eating habits.

If things aren't better in 2-3 days, I'd call your surgeon.

Our bodies are constantly changing... and I do hear that the band is tighter / looser at different times of the month.

Hang in there & let us know how it goes!

I bet 99.9% your fine. Yes to answer your question the band is very fickle for some & can be very loose on some days & very tight on others. Example: today is Thursday & I can barely get my regular meals down & I actually pded today. Yesterday & the day before I ate like a horse. That is why its so very very important to always listen to your band & eat very slowly so you can larn to feel that fullness prior to pbing. I ususally can tell 3 to 4 bites in if I am done or I can eat more if I just hold off for a few minutes & wait.

Just stay away from solids & do mushies or liquids for the next 30 hrs or so & I bet all will be fine.

Give yourself time to heal your still "healing" for mnths after.

you poor thing. Yes, you are going to be generally swollen after this last surgery, so it isn't surprising that you are having trouble with food. Go take a nice nap, listen to something soothing, and take care of your self in general.

I think it's a good idea to be on liquids after such a bad PB, so be gentle with yourself too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
