Last nite we had a fight party... Well I guess I got overwhelmed with friends and I ate stuff I normally would not but in a small amount since I can not eat much as I used to. I had 3-4 meatballs, a Lil spinach dip, 1 wing and some pulled pork and I had 2 glasses of sangria wine. This was all between the hours of 830-2 am and that's it!! well this am I was very nauseated and had to RUN to the bathroom . I was gagging and after 30 minutes I vomited greasy stuff that burns my throat. I bow have diarrheA and horrible stomach cramps. I am praying I don't miss up my band. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op... PLEASE HELP

We all slip up sometimes! The vomiting is not a good thing for your band though. I would just get back to following the rules your doctor gave you. Do liquids today to give your stomach a rest. If you are not able to get liquids down or just don't feel right definitely call your doctor. Good Luck!

How are far out from surgery are you? Almost sounds like food poisoning since you are getting it from both ends. Depending on what time you got up food would have moved through the pouch in about 5 hours. So vomiting would be comming from the stomach and not the pouch; and diarrhea means something has made it's way through the digestive systm.

Agree with honk.

By 3 1/2 weeks I was on regular foods with no restrictions. YOUR post-op instructions may be different, however. I just say that to let you know that the foods probably did not hurt the band.

The vomiting is of more concern for a new band.

I would say do liquids today, if you cannot get liquids down, call your surgeon's office and ask what you should do, being Sunday it will most likely be the answering service, but someone should be on-call. Explain you were vomiting and can't keep liquids down.

I hope this doesn't sound mean, but now you know what happens when you eat the old way! And believe me, I also learned the hard way. Take it easy on liquids for a few days. And the diarrhea, etc. is probably because you haven't eaten these types of foods for a long time, so try not to worry. Keep yourself hydrated and get back on your eating plan!

Thanx everyone... I am feeling much better. Still a Lil diarrhea but no more vomiting. I have went back to liquids only. My only concern was not damaging my band but like I said I only threw up greasy stuff no food and it happened 5 hours after I ate. I know now that this is a real lifestyle change and I'm committed to a healthy life. Thanx again for all the advice and I realize I have to change my habits and way of thinking

Go easy on yourself...you have to look at the BIG Picture!

It's the old everyday habits and the old lifestyle that will change eventually.

People say they "Slipped Up" as though we were on a diet like weight watchers or something, well it's not. It's all about the band.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
