I am just being curious when it comes to the port. I read a lot of people have to go in and get their port revised is that pretty normal after having the band on for so long? I am 8 weeks post op don't think mine has flipped but I do always have pain if I sit to long, sometimes my jeans bother me, and can't sleep on my stomach and that's my favorite position. I constantly thinking if I bend to much are strain myself its gonna flip.

Port revision surgery may be done because the port flipped, got infected, had a leak, or protruded too much after the patient lost their excess weight. It's not done because the port wears out after a few years or anything like that. At 8 weeks post-op, I think it's too soon for you to judge how your port's working out. Have you had a fill yet? As long as your port is accessible for fills, I wouldn't worry about it. Even after your port site completely heals, the surrounding muscles may complain from time to time.

My port flipped when I was about 2 yrs post-op. I had no symptoms from it, but suddenly fills got hard to do. I asked my surgeon if my workouts could have caused the flip, and she said yes, but that's not a good excuse for avoiding exercise!

The port is attached to muscle during surgery, that takes time to heal.

I am over 4 years out. My port is original parts and hasn't flipped or anything. It is left of my bellybutton just below my waist when standing. Depending on the cut of pants, waistbands still bother me a bit. I do best with pants that have a waistband that falls below my natural waistline and have a wide band. I also don't like pants to be tight around the middle, but I am nearly 49...I don't really care if my pants are tight! ;)

If you have the Lap Band, they do have a low profile port that is smaller than the normal port. My surgeon will switch to it once a patient has lost enough weight to allow it to be easily felt. I believe the Realize band only has one port size, but I could be mistaken.

I'm pretty sure that the one style of Realize port is a low-profile design, less likely to protrude after weight loss.

Yes, my dr said he now only puts in low profile ports but he gave me the realize band and told me it's def low profile. I read it's a little narrower then the others.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
